Group chats
A group is a shared thread with several contacts. Each member still has their own mailbox; Glitr fans out one encrypted copy per member. There is no shared group repository.
What you'll need
- At least two contacts you already added.
- An open Glitr session.
Create a group
- Open Chats or Contacts.
- Tap the control to start a new group (+ / New group, depending on build).
- Pick members from your contacts.
- Give the group a name.
- Confirm Create.
The new group appears in your chats list.
Members
- Open the group chat.
- Open the group info / members screen (⋯ menu or header).
- Review who is in the group.
- Add or remove members when the UI offers those actions (you may need permission as the creator, depending on build).
Filter groups in the chat list
On Chats, use the Groups filter — see Chats — filter.
Send messages in a group
Same composer as a 1:1 chat. Delivery ticks still apply per member when available — Send and receive.
What you should see
- The group name in the chats list.
- Member list under group info.
If something goes wrong
- Cannot create: add contacts first — Add a contact.
- Member missing messages: they may be offline without a mailbox path — Live vs offline.
- More help: Troubleshooting.
Next steps
- Chats
- Drive — group vaults
- Send and receive
For the curious
Group messaging uses pairwise / MLS-oriented fan-out rather than one shared group git remote. See Technical docs for MLS notes if you need protocol detail.
